The system has two main parts: an indoor unit and an outdoor unit, connected by pipes that carry refrigerant.

- The refrigerant transfers this heat to the outdoor unit.
- The outdoor unit releases the heat into the outside air.

- The outdoor unit absorbs heat from the outside air, even in cold conditions.
- The refrigerant carries this heat to the indoor unit.
- The indoor unit releases the heat into the room.

This cycle automatically adjusts to maintain the set indoor temperature.
